How to make scented soy candles

Scented Soy Candles have become very popular over the years because, it gives candle lovers an alternative to using paraffin wax. I have been creating soy candles for a while and loved them so much that I started my own candle company. Here I will give you a proven method to creating triple scented soy jar candles.

Soy Wax
Dye(liquid or dye chips)
Pre-assembled Wick
Melting Pot
Double Boiler
Oven Mts

First and foremost you need to decide on the type of soy wax you want to use, yes we know that we are using soy wax but you need to know the brand because, the brand or type of soy wax does make a difference. Choosing the right brand or type also depends on the kind of candle you want to create. Since we are creating jar candles you would need to purchase soy wax that is specifically suited for creating jar candles. Before you begin have the listed materials above ready to go, please not that when choosing a fragrance be sure that it’s suited for use in candles.

Step one: Pour your choice of soy wax into the melting pot and insert your thermometer. Melt the wax using a double boiler until the wax is completely melted, making sure the temperature of the wax doesn’t reach the flash point. Depending on the type of wax being used the flash point can be between 200-300 degrees.

Step Two: Once the wax is completely melted add your dye and stir well until the dye is completely mixed through out the wax.If you are using liquid dye you only did a small droplet since these are highly concentrated.

Step Three: Remove the melted wax from the double boiler and let cool until the temperature reaches around 130-150 degrees depending on the type of wax you are using.

Step Four: Once the wax is cooled add your scent, if you want your candles triple scented you would add 3oz’s of fragrance for every 1lb of wax instead of the standard 1oz. for every 1lb of wax then mix thoroughly.

Step Five: Pour your wax into your chosen jar and insert wick. In order to hold the wick in place use a wick bar to keep the wick from moving while it’s solidifying. Let the candle sit until the wax is completely solid.

Step Six: Trim wick to 1/4 inches and enjoy!
